Every region of Ceylon is home to a uniquely distinctive tea
These Ceylon black tea products are handpicked from single estates from six different tea regions, each with their own unique characteristics, and of special significance to the people behind Anil’s Select.

NUWARA-ELIYA

Nuwara Eliya, which is fondly known as Little England, has some of Sri Lanka’s most delicate teas. Grown at an altitude above 6,000 ft, its signature teas have a gentle and delicate yet bright tea with a floral character, which brews to give a gorgeous light golden liquor. We have selected for you an OP single-estate tea from Pedro Estate, which has special significance to Anil and his family as he spent six years working here and it is where his two daughters started schooling. Owing to its extremely delicate nature, this tea is best enjoyed on its own as milk may overpower its delicate nuances.

kandy
dimbula

DIMBULA

Dimbula is famous as one of the best tea growing areas and is defined by its clean, gentle yet full bodied brisk teas. It is a perfect pick-me-up tea with a deep golden liquor and can be enjoyed either alone or with cream and sugar. We have selected a BOP special single-estate tea hailing from Somerset Estate. This is a bold yet clean and refreshing tea, which is exactly what a Dimbula tea is. This region is especially close to Anil’s heart as this is where he started his planting career as a ‘creeper’.

UVA

Encircled by mountainous terrain, Uva is home to lush green valleys with clean, fresh air and is considered the medium-grown region for teas. The region produces teas that are mellow and smooth, with a distinct and unique flavour. We have specially selected a Pekoe 1 single-estate tea from the Uva Highlands of Malwatte Valley, which produces some of the best mellow teas. This region is close to Anil’s heart since it was when he was working here that he married his beautiful wife.

SABARAGAMUWA

Sabaragamuwa teas from the low-grown region of Sri Lanka have a heavy, robust, intense and strong character which produce a deep dark hue liquor. We have selected for you a single estate OP tea from New Vithanakanda, a multi award winning factory. It is best paired with a hint of cream to beautifully balance out that bitter punch which is distinctly a Sabaragamuwa tea. We have specially selected this particular tea since we personally know the passion with which these teas are manufactured.

KANDY

Teas from Kandy, which is the region of the sacred Temple of the Tooth, are rich just like its history but mellow like its weather. It is a city that brings Anil fond memories, as this is where he first laid eyes upon the beautiful lady who would later be his wife. Gorgeous liquoring BOP1 teas which embody all that is in a Kandy Tea is selected especially for you from Nayapana Estate.

nuwara eliya
ruhuna

RUHUNA

Ruhuna is a low-grown region bordering the lush virgin rainforest, the Sinharaja, the foothills of which were planted by Anil’s father in the 1950s. Its teas are as distinctly heavy, strong and robust as the forest itself, with a deep caramel flavour. With liquoring that is dark and deep, this tea is best enjoyed with a hint of cream. We have selected for you a single estate tea from Lumbini Estate which is highly regarded for its excellent teas.
